Neutrality

Neutrality one of the meta-skills. It is a role you take on as a facilitator, participant or leader.
It contains two main elements:

  • Being non-judgemental – that is not judging whether a statement is good or bad, right or wrong, better or worse
  • Being empathetically present

Nobody is neutral all the time, but you can move into the role of neutrality for a period and then into the subjective role you normally have.

Facilitators are neutral during the time that they facilitate, but of course they leave this role when they live their daily lives.
